Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to reshape the nose and/or improve its functionality. Depending on the patient’s nasal structure and goals for the procedure, Dr. Fadhul can provide symmetry, adjust the width and projection of the nose, remove a hump, and modify the size of the bridge, nostrils, and tip.
For patients who experience difficulty breathing due to trauma or their natural nasal structure, Dr. Fadhul can perform septoplasty. If the patient has another functional problem like turbinate hypertrophy or chronic sinusitis, an ENT surgeon will join Dr. Fadhul to fix these problems in the same session.
Benefits of Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty is a very rewarding procedure and can provide the following benefits:
- A change in nasal size, shape, and/or projection
- Improved breathing
- Balance among the facial features
- A more aesthetically pleasing profile
- A dramatic boost in confidence
Dr. Fadhul is dedicated to providing the results his patients desire while maintaining the essential characteristics that make each person unique. Your new nose will complement the surrounding facial features so that your eyes and smile are what others notice first.
Ideal Candidates
Most people are good candidates for rhinoplasty, but those who experience the best results are men and women who are in good health, do not smoke, and have realistic expectations for the procedure. Rhinoplasty is usually not performed on children until their nose has fully developed, which is around age 17 for boys and age 16 for girls.
Rhinoplasty Procedure
Dr. Fadhul utilizes the “open” approach to provide his patients with the best possible results. Once general anesthesia is administered and in effect, a single incision is made at the base of the columella that allows Dr. Fadhul to easily view and modify the tissue, cartilage, and (in some cases) bone. Once changes are made, the surgeon checks for symmetry and balance, closes the incision, and applies packing and/or a splint.
Recovery and Results
The initial recovery period for nose surgery is two weeks. Beneath your bandages, your nose will appear swollen and bruised for a minimum of one week. Since a small degree of swelling can be present for several months after surgery, patients should not expect their final results to become apparent for a few months to a year. Results with this procedure are permanent but can be revised with a secondary rhinoplasty if necessary. Patients are generally highly satisfied with the results of this procedure and the heightened sense of confidence it brings.
Consultation
Since all patients are unique and have different aesthetic goals, the rhinoplasty procedure is always completely customized. Dr. Fadhul will review your goals and concerns during your initial consultation to create a surgical plan that will meet your needs.
